Women in space – how the images look alike

Since the beginning of human spaceflight, women are present and active in astronautics. The first woman, Valentina Tereshkova, flew to space 1963. Due to that, Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin just has commissioned to paint a construction fence on their site. I don’t know if THE NEW CREW had the idea or if it was a wish of the client, but I suppose the motif is based on the movie „Proxima“, which will start in our cinemas soon. At the same time MINKIM has painted a female astronaut for mural project „Discovery of the unknown“ at Teufelsberg.

TIANOOO – THE CAT in a dressing gown

In Berlin Mitte my Berlin friend has found a number of paste ups of a newcomer, called TIANOOO THE CAT. What I know about him/her origins from the artist’s Instagram account. According to this, the main character of this artist is a cat in a dressing gown, which you can already find in the streets of Hamburg, Hannover and nowadays in Berlin Mitte in different colours.

During the winter, LACUNA has pasted his new series called „The missing birds“ in the streets of Berlin. He mainly has painted birds, that are at home in Berlin in their almost natural size. When winter starts in Germany, several birds migrate south to the warmer regions and we all miss those colourful housemates. Who wonders, that LACUNA tried to preserve memory during the winter with these little paper-works, done with stencils and spraypaint on paper. My bird catcher has found a number of them in Bergmann Kiez and sent Nightingale and black redstart to please me.

The Beauties of Devil’s Mountain

Who doesn’t know, or hasn’t been there before – Lost place Teufelsberg, a non-natural hill in Berlin, made of World War II-rubble, covering an unfinished Nazi military-technical college? During the Cold War it was the biggest NSA ear listening eastwards. In the 1990s, after German reunification, a group of investors had big plans for the area, but in the course of the years their projectplans became unprofitable and so it became a Mekka for street artists and graffiti writers, who did what they always use to do: conquer new terrains. In the course of the time my Berlin friend has met illustrious people on top of that hill, which seems to attract beauties of all colours. He has sent a number of his shots to please me.

Marsupilami Berlin Style

Marsupilami is a child of the 50ies, which is extremely seldom and very shy. That is probably the reason, why you don’t meet it very often in the wild. A small population exists in Essen and around Düsseldorf and it seems that my Berlin friend has tracked them in a small habitat in Berlin according to an insider tip. Hidden in a park at Südgelände and well camouflaged, already disappearing and endangered by extinction. But of course they couldn’t escape my Argus eyed friend!

Captain Borderline – „Collateral Crucifixion of Assange“

In the name of federalism, mass surveillance and the holy total control, Amen.

That’s to be read at art collective Captain Borderline’s Instagram account due to their latest political mural at Stresemannstraße 2, in the immediate vicinity of Willy Brandt Haus. It is a tribute to Julien Assange, Australian editor, publisher and journalist, who founded WikiLeaks in 2006. Since over 10 years by now Julian Assange sits in captivity because he revealed terrible war crimes in a war for oil which was contrary to international law. UN Special Investigator for torture, Nils Melzer, concludes that Julian Assange has fallen victim to a huge show trial, the sole purpose of which is to show the media worldwide the limits of investigative journalism. To bring it to the point, this mural is a cry for freedom of the press.
